Koryo
Dan 1 Black Belt

Koryo (고려) - first dan, also spelled Goryeo and Koryeo ("learned man", symbolizing a wise person). For Koryo (고려), the floor pattern symbolizes "seonbae," which means "learned man." The name of this poomsae memorializes the Koryo Dynasty (918 C.E. - 1392 C.E.) and reflects the indomitable will of the Korean people in the face of extreme adversity. The country name "Korea" derives from the word Koryo (also spelled Goryeo).

Due to slight variances in techniques from dojang to dojang, we encourage all Yusabu Taekwondo School students to return to this page to practice, rather than searching online for other videos. That way, you can guarantee you are learning the exact form you will be tested on during your next belt test.
